Down on the shore by the pebbles and seaweed is not where I’d normally go looking for goldfinches. However, just behind where this photograph was taken there is some shrubbery and small trees which often attract other finches (especially Linnets) as well as “Goldies”.

This image from last week was shot while photographing a small Goldfinch flock along with a Whitethroat and a male and female Stonechat pair. Down by the seaweed it looks very serious about something; that’s quite a determined look on its face.

I was reminded of this picture as I was working on No. 2 of the “My Little Bird Book” series, The Goldfinch and Other Finches. I don’t have a release date yet, but it won’t be long.
